The Trustees of IMTT have a responsibility to consider applications from the industry and then make appropriate grants available from the Trust. To assist with their work, the Trust have the services of a contracted Secretary to process the applications and make recommendations as to the viability of each proposal. The Secretary also gives guidance to applicants to assist in their preparation of the application.
In addition, the Trustees, when and where appropriate, seek external professional and impartial advice to consider some of the applications. Such advice may come from major ship-owners, managers and manning agents as well as representatives from the International Maritime Organization, the International Labour Organization and the International Transport Workers’ Federation.
The grant application process is carried out directly in association with the IMEC contributing ship-owners, the maritime academies, or various qualifying training establishments. The process requires that applicants be able to effectively manage, both technically and financially, the grant aided projects. Also demonstrating that they have in place clear procedures that will facilitate IMTTs assessment and verification process of the funded project. |
